   Justin, you are so right about high-functioning autistics being good programmers/engineers!
   You mention the heritability of autism.
   The genes which result in autism in the extreme case seem to have this survival advantage in the heterozygous case.
   As is often the case with genetic disease, recessive illness are the consequence of strong selection for the dominant phenotypic trait.
