43:46 “In Hilbert space, there is an infinite amount of room to contain energy.”
No, Hilbert space is characterized by having any finite or infinite number of dimensions.
Hilbert space also has nothing to do with multiverse theory, or the finiteness of space.
It does not magically fill all points in space with infinite energy, or allow for infinite possibilities at every point.
Besides, infinite energy at one point in space is called a singularity!
You can be sure space isn’t full of those. 🙂
43:55 “Unless there’s an absolute rule that something cannot happen, why isn’t it happening?”
Yes, in an infinite universe, we would expect all permutations possible events to exist.
Still, we can notice that this question is naive.
In quantum mechanics, all possible histories are used to calculate the wave function.
The tree of branching possible histories is huge — infinite even, if the universe is.
You may emotionally prefer to believe that these alternate universes “exist”.
None the less, we are limited to doing science in just this one. The rest are fantasy!
We are also limited to doing science in the observable universe, which is finite.
The Justin that prefers King Cobra lives somewhere outside of science.
