Yes, we do get new science form investigating old, incorrect assumptions.
The trick is identifying which assumptions are incorrect!
Justin, you often use this as an excuse for rejecting CORRECT assumptions without bothering to try and understand them in the first place.
Doing so, not only do you miss an opportunity to learn, but you confuse listeners who don’t know any better.
Justin, I get that you’re joking, but you sound like a self-centered jerk. 🙁
Nobody wants to hear you talk about your self.
This is ostensibly a SCIENCE podcast, so can we please have some science?
You said NOTHING about the findings themselves, or the theories ruled out!
There are SO many interesting things to talk about here, can we move on from your ego onto more interesting topics?
Please?
Good evening,
Is it possible to put up the topics discussed and the research papers cited on your webpage? I like to follow up on these stories. Thank you.
Great to have you back, Doctor Kiki! But I must correct you both. There is no such thing as a vegetarian whale. All whales are in fact meat eaters, though the size of the meat varies widely from tiny krill to giant squid. Nor are there any other species of cetacea which are herbivorous. The sirenia, manatees and dugongs, are vegetarians. However, they are more closely related to elephants than they are to whales, who’s closest relations are hippos.
Hey guys,
I always very much enjoy your show, yet your report on the brain stimulation paper by Reed et al. (published in Neuron this month) was a bit too simplified I think. I guess it would be important to mention that they didn’t just stimulate the whole brain or a random region, but the nucleus basalis, which is a cholinergic nucleus in the forebrain, projecting to many cortical areas and releasing acetylcholine, which can influence the plasticity of connections in the cortex.
sorry, had to stress that 😉
Best,
A
